1.

Secured Websites

2.

Mobile friendliness

According to a report,  97% of the regular internet users access internet on their mobile. So, if your site is not mobile friendly, you might not be able to serve the right content as per mobile interface.
Make the site mobile responsive. Under <head> tag of every page, include a code like:

<meta name=”viewport” content=”width=device-width, initial-scale=1″>

This tag adjusts content as per the width of the mobile devices. That’s really cool to make content compatible to a mobile device.

Also, note that with Mobile First Index, Google will look for mobile version of the site to rank on mobile devices. Hence, making the content mobile friendly is an important ranking factor.

3.

Page Speed (on both Decktop and Mobile)

With Google’s PageSpeed Insights tool , you can make your web pages fast loading on all devices.

Page load time is important because more than 50% people will leave your page if it takes more than 3 seconds to load.

4.

Meta data (Title Tag and Meta Description)

Along with page URL, the title and meta description are the contents that show in the search result. How you are optimizing the title and meta description is the key to get properly ranked on Google and get more clicks. Writing proper meta with inclusion of right keyword, can boost your individual page ranking and improve your traffic.

5.

Schema

There are various ways to provide ‘rich’ information about a page to search engines. The ways to provide such information can be:
  •          RDFa (full form: Resource Description Framework in Attributes)
  •          Microdata
  •          JSON-LD (full form: JavaScript Object Notation for Linked Data)

Using schema helps the search engines to better understand the page content. Some common types of schema markups are:
  •          Organization schema
  •          Person schema
  •          Local business
  •         Product
  •          Breadcrumbs
  •          Article
  •          Recipe
  •          Video schema

Apart from these, there are plenty of schema types. These search engines consider as good SEO practice.

6.

Content Quality

Google prefers well written and grammatically correct content. If the content is unique, not copied from anywhere, and represented in a user friendly way, Google really gives value to the content and ranks that high in SERPs.

For quality content, one needs to achieve E-A-T model (Expertise- Authoritativeness- Trustworthiness)

7.

Content Length

Gone are those days, when you will write a 200-word page content and Google will rank you on top. According to a poll among SEJ’sTwitter audience , 33% recommended to keep content 1K-2K words and 11% recommended that 2K words is best for ranking blog posts.

And  The Quicksprout reveals the data abut content length:

The average content length for a web page that ranks in the top 10 results for any keyword on Google has at least 2,000 words.
Hence, content length can be a definite ranking factor.

8.

Social Signal

How many likes did your last Facebook post get? How many followers does your Twitter handle have? How many users viewed your cool video on Youtube or TikTok?
In short, the amount of likes, comments, shares, followers, views, clicks your content gets on social media helps your brand in various ways.
  •         This increases brand recognition
  •          Trustworthiness for the brand
  •          More visit to your site from social media
  •          And better ranking opportunity on Google

9.

Backlinks

Some people believe that backlink is still one of the most influential ranking factors. Although the type of backlink submission has been changed over the years. Directory submission and social bookmarking were popular 10 years before. Now, they are not. The key idea for backlink building is getting quality links from a) industry relevant, b) high domain authority sites.

10.

 Image optimization

It is not sure if all search engines can read the embedded text in images or not. So, the Alt text in images still matters a lot. At the same time, compressed images with proper file names can help in ranking. Image optimization is a definitely worth to consider and if you are ignoring it, you are definitely losing some ranking opportunities.

If you work on the content and off-page SEO based on the above points, your site can rank much better in future.
