Marketers are always concentrating on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and other social media platforms. But what about Quora? Actually, the marketing potential of Quora is still underrated. Marketers often faces problem to have a perfect Quora marketing strategy.
And people are confused about what Quora actually is. So, let’s start with what is Quora?

What is Quora?

    Quora’s similarity with other platforms

When I started using Quora, I found similarity of the platform with Yahoo! Answers. But Quora had much more diverse questions on the subject.  Quora can also be positioned as the next level of forum. On forum, a conversation thread may go on with person asking the question can ask further question. But on Quora the person asking question, generally doesn’t comment. Rather, different Quora users come up with answers. The Question asking people can ‘request answers’ from other Quora users.

Why use Quora as a marketing platform?

Over the years, Quora has made its posted content guidelines quite strict. But brands have hardly stopped doing activities on Quora. The major reasons why Quora is popular among some brands is because of the following reasons:
If you are posting on Facebook or Twitter, that content gets lost. But on Quora the answer/content remains evergreen. People can find the question and corresponding answers when searched with particular phrases or keywords.

    1.       Many Quora contents get indexed in Google.

They come in the first and second page ranking. If you answer to a popular question and your content looks good, chances are it will receive a lot of views. People may request you for more answers and your profile (usually containing your website link) can get visits.

    2.       Quora has the option of upvote.

Depending on the quality of content, people can upvote your answer. Quora answers with most updates receive more views.

    3.       You can share links on Quora along with questions.

If any link is completely relevant to the question asked, you can share that. As long as the content is not promotional, Quora might not delete your answer.

    4.       You can post blog or website link through profile.

Referring to business website link on profile is the best way to promote your business without getting flagged.

    5.       The answer wiki.

Quora allows to users to place the best list of answers. Sometimes, the best answers can be a list of domains of which your website can be a part of.

    6.       You can bookmark your favourite Quora posts

You can bookmark all your promoted posts. That can help you to keep track of best possible answers.

    7.       You can run text ads and image ads on Quora platform

PPC people can utilize Quora for running ads to get more views to their contents.
If your brand is really popular, may be Quora can consider that as a ‘topic’ (I think, that’s called Quora Spaces). If your brand name becomes a topic, it can have a lot of followers and hence gain quick brand popularity.

    A word of caution

If your answer seems to be too much promotional and if your answer phrases directly point to your site, Quora might flag your answer and it can get deleted.
If your content is not too promotional or spammy, you can expect to gain a good marketing edge over your competitors through Quora platform.
So, while using Quora, the first thing that should come to your mind will be to provide answers to the queries of users and then start promoting your business.  With this approach, you can expect thousand, lacks and even millions of views.
